My Approach
"My approach sits between extremes."
Sleep support doesn't have to mean leaving your child to cry — but it also doesn't mean avoiding emotions. Change can be hard, and some crying is a normal response in the early days.
With consistent, responsive support, most families see tears reduce significantly after the first week.
Responsive, not cry-it-out
I never advocate for methods that leave children distressed without support.
Attachment-safe
Plans are built around your child's developmental stage and attachment needs.
Evidence-based
Grounded in infant development research and midwifery knowledge.
No extremes
Practical, sustainable plans that work for real families.

Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to the questions families ask most.
Will my child cry?
Some crying is a normal and expected part of any sleep change — it's how babies and young children express frustration or communicate that things feel different. My approach is never to leave your child alone or distressed without support, but I will be honest with you: most families do experience some tears, especially in the first few days. The good news is that with consistent, responsive support, crying typically reduces significantly after the first week.
Is this cry-it-out?
No. I do not use or recommend traditional cry-it-out methods (CIO or extinction sleep training). My approach is responsive — you remain present and supportive throughout. That said, I won't pretend that all sleep change is tear-free. There's a big difference between supporting your child through feelings and leaving them to cry alone, and I firmly sit on the responsive side of that line.
Is this attachment-safe?
Yes. Everything I recommend is built around your child's developmental stage, temperament, and attachment needs. I'm a registered midwife with a deep understanding of infant development and parent-child bonding. I'll never ask you to do anything that compromises your relationship with your child or conflicts with your values as a parent.
How long does it take to work?
Most families see meaningful improvement within 7–14 days, though every child is different. Younger babies and children with more complex sleep histories may take a little longer. I'll set realistic expectations with you during our consultation and provide ongoing support to help you stay consistent and confident through the process.
What if I can't handle the crying?
This is one of the most common concerns I hear — and it's completely valid. We'll talk honestly before we begin about what feels manageable for you. I'll build a plan that fits your tolerance and your child's needs, and I'm available throughout your support period to adjust things if something isn't working. You're not alone in this. I'm with you every step of the way.
